I totally agree with John Tuttle on using the hand tracker bar pump to
clean the tracker bar. There have been many occasions in the past
where the customer told me that they did not need a tracker bar pump,
because they used their stronger vacuum cleaner.
I would have them bring out their vacuum cleaner and vacuum the tracker
bar. Then I would get out my tracker bar pump, remove the end, use
their vacuum cleaner to clean off the filter of my pump, put it back
together, and then pump their tracker bar.
After going over their tracker bar two or three times, I would remove
the end again, to let them see just how much dust and dirt the hand-
pumping had sucked from their piano. They would ask me where they
could get one. I always carried a new one in the bottom of my bag.
