Music and the Younger Generation
By Spencer Chase

Speaking of Youthful impressions: for me, the seeds of a lifelong
addiction to mechanical music were also sown at an early age. It was
one large Steinway Duo-Art that made a lasting impression on me at
about the age of eighteen. Ten or fifteen years later I saw an ad for
one (overpriced and in horrible condition) and bought it.

That first Duo-Art which I heard was owned by an older man who
maintained it well and enjoyed demonstrating it to anyone willing to
listen. Little did he know that the impression it made would have such
a profound effect. I am sure he would enjoy knowing that he passed on
the tradition of appreciation to another generation.
