I have a PianoLodeon that plays well, except the motor-blower makes a
lot of vibration noise. The rewind is strictly mechanical, belt-driven
from the blower. The same applies to play motion, and there is no
Tempo control. Vacuum is not shut off during rewind. The rewind speed
is faster than play, so the notes don't get a chance to sound, but you
can see the keys twitching.
My main complaint about the PianoLodeon is the poor tonal quality of
the chime rods that the hammers play on. I tried to replace mine with
a set out of a child's Jaymar toy piano, but the spacing wasn't quite
right, and you have to get the strike point exactly right. So I'm
stuck with the sound.
I've tried to oil the motor-blower's bearings; I managed to get to the
upper one but the lower is inaccessible. I don't know how to get the
works out of the case -- it was not designed with repair in mind, not
surprising for a child's toy.
Best wishes,
Mike Knudsen
