Regarding converting a reed organ to play MIDI files, I went through
the same process a couple of years ago. Take a look at this portion of
Terry Smythe's web site: http://members.shaw.ca/smythe/barisonek.htm
The Orchestrelle now plays from 88-, 65-, 58-note and reproducing roll
scans. I would also imagine that this is the first Orchestrelle to play
the original music from a Wurlitzer 125 and 150, and it sounds great!
Not all files are compatible with the scale on the Orchestrelle, but
through trial and error I have found quite a few that are, and have
even had an organist record files on a MIDI keyboard to play back on
the Orchestrelle.
You might be interested to know that the instrument is the Orchestrelle
detailed in Richard Vance's on-line publication, "Rebuilding the Aeolian
Orchestrelle", at http://www.mmdigest.com/Gallery/Tech/AeoW/index.html
