Lubricants for Mechanical Music Instruments
By Skip Downing

Greetings MMDers, This question is likely aimed toward the older
generation of techs, as I think a couple of these items are no longer
in production. Does anyone have any experience or advice in the use
of the following lubrications for, say, valve stems, sluggish control
rods, transmission bearing, etc?

a) Squeak Douse: I see this one is still in the catalog, but I have
   no experience with it.

b) Dryburgh's Wond-R-Lube: says it's a wax oil, whatever that is.

c) Tuner's Supply CPL: perhaps this is the 7/1 naphtha/silicone mix?

Any input anyone has would be greatly appreciated.
