Window of Opportunity Opening
If there is anyone who wants to have Wurlitzer rolls cut or copied,
Play-Rite Music Rolls, Turlock, Calif., is going to set up one of its
perforators to punch rolls to the unique Wurlitzer spacing (.1227")
this fall. How long this opportunity will last to have good-quality
Wurlitzer rolls made will depend on how many orders Play-Rite receives.
The production perforator that will be used for this project is one
normally used to make O-rolls. Between now and September, Play-Rite
will be beefing up its inventory of O-rolls, so that the needs of
O-roll customers can be satisfied for the duration of the time when
Wurlitzer dies are running on the perforator. The Wurlitzer project
will last until the orders for Wurlitzer cuttings is exceeded by the
demand for O-rolls.
I will be having at least five new Wurlitzer 165 rolls produced. But
the Play-Rite perforator will be capable of punching other Wurlitzer
formats -- APP, Caliola, 125, 150 -- as well. So I hope other people
using these formats will take advantage of this opportunity and keep
the project running for a while, once it starts up this fall sometime
in September or October.
