Fair Organs Should Play More Modern Music
By Justin Senneff

Dear Readers: A subject the president of AMICA has mentioned
several times in the AMICA magazine is presenting our hobby to
the public (band organ rallies, etc.). With that in mind we should
bring some of that attention to the youth if we want this hobby to
survive. In doing so we must appeal to them by playing more modern
music on band organs.

I feel the organs must suited for the job are larger fairground
organs as well as some of our own organs, like Wurlitzer 165 scale band
organs. For example, currently on www.youtube.com there is a video of
the 80-key Bruder fairground organ from the late Mike Kitner collection
playing a 10:00 melody on the Phantom of the Opera. Please watch this
video if you want to see a Bruder do things unheard of when the organ
was built.

Although I feel that we should let some fresh air into our hobby I do
not think we should toss the baby out with the bath water. The old
music is part of our culture and should be preserved for the future.
Have you ever considered why Holland and Great Britain have so much
youth in their forums?

Please respond soon,
Sincerely,
Justin Senneff
