I went to a book sale today in Deansboro, New York; it's always sad
to see the old Musical Museum buildings there. At the book sale I had
a bit of a surprise. Any of you who visited will recall that when Art
Sanders would play the Red Welte upright for a new visitor he would
always hand them a glassed up Photostat of the "Photo of a Section
of a Recording made at the Welte-Mignon Studio". I experienced a mild
shock when I turned over a bundle of old frames, and there it was.
It's on my 88-note player now.
Cost: $1.00, value in nostalgia for my youth: priceless. However,
if anyone knows where that Welte upright is now, I'd like to send it
to the owner as part of it's history.
