Dean Howe and I have decided to team up and offer recuts of Ampico
rolls from our collections that, to our knowledge, have not been
recut before or have not been available in many years. Even though
we are separated by over 2000 miles (I'm in California and Dean is in
Missouri) the superior technology available today allows us to work
together in our efforts to make the highest quality recuts.
Our collaboration works because (a) I have one of the archival roll
scanners designed and built by Larry Doe that produces perfect digital
images of the rolls, (b) Anthony Robinson in England recovers the punch
masters for us and (c) Dean has the time to process and distribute the
rolls. Perforation will be done by Sierra Music Rolls on their
extremely accurate computer controlled perforator.
The rolls offered on the first list are all really good ragtime,
jazz or "hot" performances from very uncommon rolls. We need to make
a minimum of six copies of each roll to recut these titles, which means
if we cannot get at least six people interested in each title then no
copies will be made.
Here is your chance to own precision copies of some very scarce rolls
that may never be available again. They are all nice arrangements and
great toe tapping numbers. If you are interested in one or all of the
titles below please email Dean Howe and let him know so we can get an
idea of how many copies to make.
