Seeburg G Orchestrion Plays "Pete Kelly's Blues"
By Ken Vinen

Happy July 4th to all those south of the 49th. Having just been
fortunate enough to add a Seeburg "G" Orchestrion to my collection,
the thread on "Pete Kelly's Blues" quickly got my attention. I knew
I had a copy of that movie on VHS so dug it out for a fresh look.

I got a real chuckle from the sign on top that stated "Machine Only
To Be Played at Intermission," which brought back memories from my days
of playing in a beer parlour in competition with the hockey game blaring
away on the black and white television set!

My question: Did or were the lights behind the glass front of a Seeburg
"G" meant to flash on and off all the time, even when the piano was not
playing? I have looked at a lot of Seeburg "G" orchestrions over the
years and never saw one with flashing lights! Has anyone ever noted
a flashing light effect on a Seeburg "G"?

Regards to all,
Ken Vinen, Aylmer, Ontario, Canada

[ And we hope y'all north of the 49th had a happy Canada Day on
 [ July 1st! -- Robbie
