1919 Upright Duo-Art Tubing Schematic Needed
By Wilbur Herr
I see that there has been a lot of discussion about the Pedal Duo-Art.
Has anyone prepared a schematic for the tubing of the Duo-Art Upright
of the 1919-1925 period?
At present I am restoring a 1919 Steinway Duo-Art Upright. I have the
1925 Grand schematic, the 1913-1918 reprint, and the 1925 reprint that
deals with both the Grand and Upright.
The 1919 tracker bar has no motor port. The "off" control seems to be
accomplished by the reroll port and the repeat slide block, which is
different from the 1925. The tubing of the 1919 Steinway is not in-
tact, so I can not trace the route.
I note also that there is a control on the soft pedal pneumatic that is
tubed to a tee in the #1 line that goes to the dynamic box, as shown on
the 1913-1918 schematic. Is this a carryover from 1918? Other than
that, the remainder of the tubing is much like the 1925 schematic.
Has anyone else experienced this? I would appreciate any input.
