We have obtained 8 more tickets to the Hollywood Bowl, so if you
register now you can still be guaranteed a seat for July 4th. Also,
although the Sunday tour is full with a wait list, there is plenty of
room on the Tuesday tour, which is a great tour. You will love the
display of "Cowboys and Presidents" at the Gene Autry museum; it's
a fascinating piece of history, and the museum also has lots of fun
displays regarding western movies. From there a visit to the Griffith
Park merry-go-round with its Stinson 165 Military Band Organ, and a
visit to Descanso Gardens complete with a tram tour of the 165 acres,
which made up the back yard for the Manchester Boddy mansion. There
are 100,000 camellias and 4,000 roses, just for a start.
The whole convention is like a giant party with great mechanical
music collections to visit, super entertainment, and just lots of
fun and maybe some surprises. Check the AMICA web site, click on the
AMICA 2008 Convention box for full details. You'll be sorry if you
miss it if you have a love for mechanical music machines, and don't
we all?
