Moving a Wide Piano Through a Narrow Door
By James Black

I have an Steinway Pedal Electric Duo-Art, in my view the ultimate
in upright reproducing pianos, and I live in an old cottage in the
UK. There was no way it was going to go through a doorway made 300
years ago.

The simple answer was to remove the key bed. It did not take as nearly
as long as one might think as it just unscrewed and was reassembled
in less than a couple of hours. By selectively disconnecting tubes
and links from levers, I think it may even be possible to leave the
expression box more or less in place.
