Seek Small Suction Box for Player Piano
By Lee Daniel
I am restoring a 1917 Steindell upright player piano. I want to
add an electrical suction box for an alternative to foot pumping.
The best place to locate the box is inside on the bottom right next
to the reservoir bellows. That space on my piano is 7-1/4 inches
wide. The suction boxes available from Player Piano Co and from QRS
are 7-1/2 inches wide (even though QRS lists theirs as 7 inches,
it's not).
Does anyone know of a source of suction box that would fit inside my
piano, or have a suggestion for installation? Would it be feasible to
modify (reduce one dimension) of the PPCo or QRS box? I prefer not to
put it up under the top lid of the piano as has been suggested by PPCo.
