Seek Motor for Wurlitzer 146-B Band Organ
By Rob Goodale

I am restoring a Wurlitzer Style 146-B organ which will include
returning the drive train back to the original leather belt system.
The original motor was 1150 RPM at 1/2 HP. There are plenty of modern
replacements available, however for an authentic appearance I prefer
to locate a vintage motor. I have a possible solution worked out for
a 1750 RPM motor by changing the pulley ratios; however, this may
prove not to be a practical solution because of wear issues on smaller
pulleys.

I am wondering if anyone out there might have an old 1150 RPM motor
rated at least 1/2 HP? It doesn't necessarily need to be 1920s vintage,
many motors made as late as the 1940s had similar appearances. One
additional complication is that, unlike the much smaller 1/8 HP piano
motors, many of the larger 1150 motors were huge and exceptionally
heavy. I would like to avoid that. I have access to one but it is
absolutely massive.

The motor also needs to be in decent condition and serviceable.
I'd rather not have to pay to have it re-wound. I am attempting to
be budget conscious on this project!
