Ed Openshaw to Activate B.A.B. Perforator Soon
By George Karpel
I've personally known Ed Openshaw since the 1970's when he operated
the Griffith Park Carousel in Los Angeles with Don Rand. Ed has
been known to sit on projects forever and ever. He has had the Acme
perforator for a long time and has more than once expressed the desire
to start cutting B.A.B. rolls. Being a connoisseur of J. Lawrence
Cook's arrangements of the B.A.B. tunes, I have been waiting many
years for Ed to start cutting rolls. I've tried to phone Ed on
numerous occasions, but to no avail. Without a computer, and even
a basic telephone answering system, Ed is at a distinct disadvantage
if he is serious about carrying on a business.
I truly hope that Ed will get down to business and start cutting rolls
so that collectors will be able to enjoy more of those wonderful tunes
that are just waiting to be placed on rolls.
