Seek Mason & Hamlin Ampico A Tubing Diagram
By Pat DeWitt

Hi All, I am nearing completion of my Mason and Hamlin RA Ampico A
piano player and need some help. Fortunately I have all the colored
marker bands which identify the various tubes but the old tubes had
all broken off before I got the piano so I don't know where along the
tubing runs they go. I do understand what most of the numbers mean
(1B goes to Number 1 bass tube, etc.) but where were they physically
placed along the tubes so they could be used for identification
purposes?

Also I understand the terminology on most of the marker bands but
there are some that I will need help figuring out. For instance, what
is AM (amplifier?) or SB (subdued?). Perhaps there is a complete list
of all the markers and what the two letters stand for?

Finally I have a generic Ampico A tubing diagram from PPCo but the
Mason has "improvements" in the form of little boards with holes in
them to dress the tubes through so that the finished job looks really
neat and professional. Does anyone have any information specific to
the Mason RA that helps to guide where all the tubes go?

Thanks for your help,
Pat DeWitt
