On-Off Switch for Modern Aeolian Player Piano
By Jim Jelinek
In regard to John Tuttle's Aeolian switch information. I have
never had a problem removing the tiny pneumatic from the wooden
base once I took it into my shop where I could properly strip off
the old cloth and replace it with new using hot glue even if the dolts
at Aeolian didn't use it. The amount of time taken to replace the
cloth in the home works out about the same in terms of cost to the
customer. Lately I've tried to carry an extra complete unit with me
so I don't have to do the running back to complete the repair.
As for the switch, I do stock some of the same type item but the
push button would have to be extended because it's not as long as
on the original ones. Basically it's the same switch with only that
difference. The unit still has the small tip sticking out from the
base for the pneumatic to shut it off. I would be happy to provide
one to his customer for $6.50 plus $1.65 postage.
