Weber Keyslip Problem
By Glenn Roat

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMDigest --

Regarding the problem with the mechanism that holds the Weber fallboard
closed, I realize that I am actually talking about the keyslip, which
is probably why my description of the problem did not make much sense
[080303 MMDigest]. Restating the problem, the mechanism that holds the
keyslip closed does not work very well.

The keyslip has a metal plate attached to the bottom of the keyslip
with a hinge. This metal plate slides under a metal band that is
mounted under the keybed. The metal plate has a small bump punched
in it, the metal band has a hole in it. When the keyslip is closed,
the bump in the metal plate sits in the hole in the metal band, which
is supposed to provide enough friction (or spring tension) to keep
the keyslip closed.

I still have not figured out how the mechanism was designed to keep
the keyslip closed when the keyboard cover is not down (keyboard not
covered).

Regards,
Glenn Roat
