In recommending Player Piano Company (PPCo) as a source for supplies,
Bill Maguire mentioned Durrell Armstrong's aversion to computer
technology. A long time ago Durrell tried to computerize his customer
lists and ordering process, but it made such a mess of the process that
he backed off and never went in that direction again.
For leathers and certain other supplies there are at least two
companies that will gladly sell to the little guy: the Leather Supply
House -- now owned by Mike Madeira, but founded by the late Marilyn
(Eagan) McLelland -- and Columbia Organ Leathers, which sells a nice
High Tack Fish Glue, among other items. Both companies do have web
sites.
