I've long been a fan of Artcraft music rolls. It seems that Mr.
Henderson has just the right touch with the pedal, snappy syncopations
and realistic dynamics (after all, on a reproducing piano the dynamics
are generated, not original, regardless of how they were measured).
Yesterday I received my copy of Artcraft's newest piece, The Carioca
(for the Duo-Art). I immediately put on the roll and from the
first few bars right to the end I felt like I was in an RKO picture:
a marimba band was playing in the background, there was a great feeling
of well being that you receive from the movies of that era.
This new roll is simply the best new music that I've heard. Anyone
with a Duo-Art is encouraged to rush out and buy it. There is also an
88-note version for foot impelled players.
