Player Instruments at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
By Tom DeLay

A couple days ago, Matthew Caulfield mentioned of the sound systems
to be installed for the Santa Cruz Boardwalk band organs. Does anyone
remember or know what happened to several machines, one of which was a
Seeburg mortuary organ, on display in the former "plunge"? This would
have been about 1966-68. None of the instruments played that I recall.

By the way, when the Boardwalk first opened in the early 1900s, a Welte
Cottage Orchestrion was installed. Photos of it exist in the various
Boardwalk photo archives. The Welte was destroyed when the boardwalk
burned down in 1906.
