Friends, I'd like to announce a reference web site of interest to
mechanical music collectors:
The Organette Music Repository
http://music.organettes.com/
Recently several organette owners had been commenting that many of
our paper rolls had "seen better days." We soon recognized that it
was important to make as much information available to one another
as possible, in hopes of preserving both knowledge and music. Hence
the web site's existence! Although initially sponsored through the
"Organettes & Player Pump Organs" Yahoo Group, it's certainly open
to the public for both use and participation.
The Organette Music Repository includes:
1) Music known, and/or available, indexed by instrument
2) Tune Lists for each instrument
3) Indexes by Number of Keys/Notes, Format and Size
4) Note Spacing for music/instruments
5) Tuning Scales for most instruments
6) Organette Patent information, other misc. information
My announcement has two purposes: First, to offer the web site as
a resource to whomever can use it. And second, to ask for those
who might be willing to share their information with others. If you
have organette music or tune lists which could be added to the site,
or other useful information, please consider doing so. If you are
uncomfortable adding it yourself, we have volunteers who are willing
to enter the data from any list you provide. Successful preservation
depends on everyone's cooperation!
Thank you,
Todd Augsburger, Administrator
