In response to the concern about postal rates I, more than anyone,
am aware of the ramifications. The cost of mailing the AMICA Bulletins
has made a substantial leap upwards. AMICA can exist, like other
organizations, with mostly retired volunteers using their spare (and
not so spare) time.
The US Post Office is in huge debt, some $9 billion (yes, with a "b").
According to my local postal clerks, the cost of fuel has been a big
factor, followed by the fact that what was once done by letters is now
done by email.
The Internet has replaced the mail as the source of global village.
