I am presently restoring a Wilhelm Bruder Söhne 41-keyless Starkton
organ. The instrument uses the unscrambled scale and it seems that
various models were built, some having all flue pipework and others
having Trumpets and Trombones and therefore those are more strident.
Although the music has extra controls, making it 46-keyless on the
keyframe, the Forte and Piano controls do not seem to be used on any
of the Starkton models or instruments playing this scale that I have
found. The music spacing is not common for German Waldkirch organs,
being at 3.5 mm centres.
My organ bears the serial number 3790. I am told that this serial
number is the latest known, but I am not sure if this is true. Having
been through the organ I have found no dates anywhere, not even hidden!
Now there is no place to look.
If you have or know about a Wilhelm Bruder Söhne organ (not to be
confused with the other Bruder builders) and you have a date matched
to a serial number, I would be grateful if you could email me. What
I would like to know is as follows:
Model, if known
Serial number
Date, and how did you date it: written on organ? guesstimate, or?
Owner
Location: Country or town, _not_ the full address.
I will tabulate this up and make this available on MMD. If you do
not wish your name to be used just say and this will be not included,
neither the organ's whereabouts.
