So far I have not read any comments about the difference in notes
played on the Ampico versus the Duo-Art. Example: C#1 in the first
octave is the lowest note played on a Duo-Art. Grieg's Piano Concerto
in A-minor cannot be properly played on a Duo-Art since A1 is part
of the proper score. Of course that note is played on an Ampico.
Compositions by Chopin and others have the lowest notes "missed"
on a Duo-Art also.
The above noted, I'm happy to listen to my 1928 Steinway OR (6' 6")
Duo-Art or my 1923 Chickering Ampico 6' 6" anytime. Any of our
instruments properly restored are still a marvel and a joy. I chose
Ampico and Duo-Art back in the 1970's since roll availability was the
easiest to find.
