Disc Changer Mechanism Stalls
By Matthew Caulfield

I have been asked for advice by an email correspondent on how to fix
a problem with the changer mechanism of his Regina 34 Upright Changer
disc box. But I am no Regina expert, so I am appealing to MMDers who
might be able to offer long-distance help to that Regina owner.

The problem is that the disc changer is intermittently sluggish and
does not always function smoothly. The problem area is apparently the
governor on the changer mechanism. In researching this, he removed
back of the cabinet and found that the governor will start rotating if
prompted by a finger. But that obviously is not an acceptable procedure
for normal operation.

He lightly lubricated the governor's moving parts and the worm gear and
its bearings. This helped, but did not resolve the problem.

It is possible that what is described is not the problem area causing
the sluggish operation, and he welcomes suggestions.

When the changer moves the disc into place, it plays wonderfully.

He can provide pictures of the governor or any other area of the
changer that is needed. If you might be able to advise him, please
contact him ASAP at <trueinsight@fastmail.fm>
