Duo-Art vs. Ampico
By Andy Taylor

I have heard both systems, and I think it's equal. Remember, once
they were competitors and the market was tough. Considering the
numbers made by both should attest to this.

The best sounding Ampico I have ever heard was a Chickering Model B
restored by Craig Brougher. The best sounding Duo-art was a small
Steinway grand rebuilt by Larry Broadmoore. Both are quite startling
when heard for the first time.

When I think of the limited technology they had at the time, it is
all the more amazing.
