Mechanical Music in India
By Alan Whytock

Back in 1989 I was offered a huge Imhof & Mukle orchestrion that had
been dismantled in a Maharajah's palace in India. I did not have the
space or the means to arrange shipment at that time; so I do not know
what became of it.

A few years later a friend who had business in India was shown the old
HMV works which produced 78s, as a possible venue to set up a factory.
It was completely abandoned, but still had thousands of records in
stock! I asked him where this place was, but he could not remember.
I wonder whether they still exist?
