Mechanical Music in India
By Jim Katz

I don't have any further information about this, but had a tantalizing
moment of recognizing mechanical music in a homemade video. A local
dentist here (Montreal) made a video of his trek to the Himalayas and
Agra, India. Somewhere along the line he was upstairs in an Indian
hotel, shooting pictures down into a crowd on the streets having a
nighttime parade on one of their many holidays. I could not see much
except for people milling around, but there was the unmistakable sound
of some sort of band organ, probably on a cart in the parade. It
didn't sound too bad, either. It seems magical to imagine a western
instrument there at all, and actually working well!
