I am ecstatic today! We are always seeking for our treasures, be
it an Ampico model B, a Seeburg, or in my case an art case Foster.
We ask about where one may obtain parts for our treasures, and we
can usually find them by posting in the MMDigest. But this morning,
because of the MMD web site, the ultimate treasure has found me,
a treasure worth more than all the Fosters and Seeburgs in the world!
Please let me explain.
In 1982 when I was a very young man I was married for a brief time;
that marriage produced a daughter. I have seen her a few brief times
then eventually I lost all contact. I tried several locator sites
during the years to find her but to no avail. But she did remember
my old art case Foster (the one I seek to replace) and that it was a
player piano. A web search brought up my articles in the MMD Archives,
and ultimately my e-mail address. I was floored this morning to find
an e-mail from her. This led to a three-hour phone call.
Thank you, Robbie and Jody and the MMD! Although neither of you
probably never conceived that the MMD web site would ever play a major
role in a family reunion, it has happened. Please excuse me for being
so emotional, but I just can't help being giddy today. I will always
be grateful for this -- and by the way, I'm a grandfather!
