In the Contra Costa Times Sunday edition (Dec. 30, 2007) I read with
pleasure that the historic carousel at Tilden Regional Park in
Berkeley, California, will be closed for renovations for six months
starting Jan. 1, 2008. A weather-proof enclosure will be constructed
around it to protect it from the elements. A sum of approximately
$700,000 is allocated for the renovations, including replacement of
the carousel platform and restoration of the "calliope music organ".
I have lived in the Bay Area for almost 30 years and have never heard
the band organ play. This is great news!
