John Deere Player Piano Finish
By Andy Taylor

My thanks to one and all for all the advice for this project.
I have came up with several new ideas thanks to suggestions in the
MMD. Robbie had suggested using a tractor seat. I just happen to
have an old stool type piano bench, that the pan tractor seat can be
easily fitted to. Jon Page provided a link to bright yellow keytops.
Just for added fun I plan to fit toy tractor wheels on either side of
the roll take up spool.

And for all the advice everyone gave regarding prepping the wood,
thank you. The project should be completed by the spring, I will
submit pictures to the MMD

The owner had suggested that I paint the tuning pins. I pointed out
that the tuning hammer would mar the finish, and it was never a good
idea to go too wild with the paint on action parts; maybe the front
of the pressure bar, and the hammer rail, and the stack parts that was
originally painted, but not the piano action.

Any more suggestions would be appreciated. This project, that I
dreaded at first, is turning out to be fun.
