Black Forest Flute Clock in English Case
By Tony Brooks

Just to add to Julian's 'Historical Sideline', I have a very nice
Drop Dial wall clock which looks very much Black Forest. The dial
is marked "J. Tritschler, 402 Oxfort St. London, W.C."

[Note "Oxfort" vs. "Oxford"] The dial painter obviously did not know
his London streets, suggesting the dial may well have been painted in
Germany, or maybe just an ill-informed Englishman!

Tony Brooks,
West Sussex, U.K.
