Keep Scrapped Music Machine Parts
By Brad Hunter

There have been a number of posts here of late about original actions
and parts being removed from pianos. While most collectors and restor-
ers might cringe at this thought, there are many reasons that an owner
may have for doing so.

The cost of restoration may be beyond what the owner can afford. The
timeframe for restoration may be too long. The instrument may have
been damaged by water, fire, or the ravages of time. But in any case
we should remember to save all removed original parts for some other
person's use. If you find that you must remove original player actions
and parts, box them up and save them, place them on eBay, or post them
on the MMD, for others who may be in need of those very parts.
