Reprints of some of the piano books by Oliver Cromwell Faust used to
be sold by APSCO, but they have been out of business for a few years.
Owen Jorgensen, in his major treatise book, "Tuning" (Mich. State U.
Press, 1991), devoted several pages to Faust's tuning chain and interval
tests that used contiguous fourths to fifths to insure acceptable equal
temperament tunings, and probably were taught at his tuning and repairs
school around 1913.
Faust was operating his training school in the Northeast U.S. at about
the same time that Jerry Cree Fisher and Wm. Braid White taught tuning
and rebuilding in the Midwest. White also wrote at least one book
about servicing player actions.
