Removing Piano Action from Duo-Art Grand Piano
By M. Grady Jones

-- non-subscriber, please reply to sender and MMD --

Howdy folks, I have just acquired a 1928 London Geo Steck 5'2"
reproducing grand (Aeolian/Duo-Art) and have accepted the challenge
of doing the rebuild myself, but I'm long on questions and short on
answers and need to gather information before I remove the first
screw. I would appreciate historical information as well as rebuild
tips and guidance.

My challenges are much more about rebuilding the piano itself than
the Pianola mechanism (which appears to be in unusually good shape --
the piano, however, is in very bad shape, especially the keyboard
action).

How do you safely remove the keyboard to rebuild the action of the
piano? There are way too many pneumatics through the keyboard for
me to just "unscrew and slide" as I have done in past projects.

Any tips, web sites, links or specific books one would recommend,
either USA or UK publishing sources? I'll accept any advice or
tips that will come my way. Feel free to email me direct at
<mgradyjones@aol.com>

Respectfully,
M. Grady Jones
