Mechanical Music on TV "Ghosthunters"
By Charlie Morgan

I just watched a repeat of a Ghosthunters TAPS episode where they went
to the Birdcage Theater in Tombstone, Arizona. During the analysis
part of the investigation they caught an audio clip with what appears
to sound like a mechanical musical instrument in the background. It
is a short clip, but there are probably enough notes there for someone
who knows old instruments and tunes to take a guess as to what the tune
is, and what the mechanical musical instrument playing it might be.

The Birdcage Theater in Tombstone was operating only from 1881 to 1889,
so I am just wondering if the instrument that can be heard, and the
tune, are from that era, or are from a later era.

Here is the link to the whole Ghosthunters episode. The short piece
with the music is at the end of the episode and you can hear it both
during the analysis section, and during the review with the owners of
the Birdcage Theater. Sorry I couldn't isolate the clip, because it
is in a special format that MySpace uses.

I just thought it might be interesting and fun to see if someone can
identify this music.

Thanks!
