Hi all, This is the first time I have heard of PPCo being out of the
metal fasteners. I never use the metal fasteners when I build or
restore a mandolin rail. I build them the way they where originally
made "way back when". I cut little squares around 3/16" thick out of
oak or maple, as wide as the hanging finger, and attach them with hide
glue to the tip. Normally I will brush on a coat of lacquer.
This works much better than the clips. The clips have the tendency to
fall off and do not strike the strings as good. If you don't succeed
in finding the metal fasteners I might have some hanging around. Just
let me know. Hope this helps.
