My home suffered a casualty, specifically water and ensuing mold
damage, exposing my collection to high concentrations of mold and
swings in humidity and temperature.
I am highly sensitive to mold and will likely have to disperse the
collection, or my insurer may dispose of it as salvage.
The instruments did not get wet, but have been exposed to heat,
humidity, cold, and mold-spore contamination. I would not want to take
them into a sterile environment and risk mold/fungi re-infestation.
I need to hire someone to evaluate my collection for the full replace-
ment cost/value for insurance purposes.
The instruments involved are a Violano, an art-case player grand, an
art-case grand, a square grand, a number of parlor organs, some of
which are significant, a significant roll library (Ampico B and A, as
well as 88-note, and some Violano rolls). There is also a quantity of
large-format sheet music, and there are a couple of old ukuleles, and a
Civil War era wind instrument and music book. There are also other
19th century and 18th century items for evaluation, as well.
I need an appraiser who is professionally licensed and trained, who can
write a concise report, stating the basis for his opinions and defend
with a reasonable degree of certainty the values he assigns. There
will likely be a deposition (which can be videotaped at your location
if necessary) for use at trial. I would prefer someone familiar with
doing appraisal work in a litigation context, who is comfortable testi-
fying, and who has previously been deposed.
Please do not respond via email or to the MMD, but instead call me to
discuss this as privileged information. If I am unavailable, I will
return your message as promptly as possible. The assignment will be
immediate. The property is in Kansas City, Missouri. An on-site in-
spection will be required.
