Steck Pianola With Reproducing Action
By Julian Dyer

The term "Reproducing action" was used on later instruments fitted with
the pedal-only Duo-Art action. They have the Duo-Art tracker bar, but
under the bonnet they're just souped-up Themodist instruments where
only the accompaniment level is varied from the DA roll. I've no idea
why the term was used.

For the instrument on eBay, you can clearly see the Duo-Art expression
holes in the tracker bar through the roll that's covering it. The lack
of tracking ears tells us that this is a later instrument using the
four-hole tracking system, so mid-1920s or later, probably nearer 1930.
So it's nice and should restore well, but not worth significantly more
than a normal Pianola.
