I've had several productive responses to my request for 65-note rolls
which I posted yesterday. However my request for 65-note roll boxes
met with no results. In fact one email requested that, if I found any,
I let him know.
In light of the fact that there are most likely none out there and
considering the fact that I dislike seeing unboxed rolls on the shelf,
I came up with a partial solution. This will work only if you have a
player piano that will play 65 -note rolls and will also accept roll
flanges of the 88-note type. My Melville Clark Apollo falls into this
category.
So this afternoon I took my six unboxed 65-note rolls and respooled
them on standard 88-note spools. The paper is the same width. I can
now put them in standard piano roll boxes. I saved the original 65-
note spools, and in case any boxes ever show up, I can reverse the
process. Yes, I played one of them, and they play perfectly.
I hope this helps those individuals looking for the very scarce 65-note
roll boxes.
