Salomons House Welte Philharmonic Organ
By Mark Kinsler

Can someone explain what the "Echo Organ" mentioned on this webpage is:

    http://www.maesto.com/US/welteinstruments.html

It says that the Echo Organ sat at the other end of the hall. So I
suppose someone would write music for both organs, perhaps bouncing a
tune back and forth between them. Was this a standard arrangement, and
if it wasn't, then wouldn't someone have had to write special music for
that organ?

I suppose that's how life went, if you were as wealthy as the family
who installed the Welte. Nowadays they'd spend the money on sports
cars or something.
