Greetings MMD'ers: I have a friend who has a MIRA (labeled "Empress"
for Lyon & Healy Company) disc musical box in a floor model cabinet,
playing the 18-inch discs, which is missing both horizontal wood panels
in front of and behind the mechanism bedplate. These are the panels
that have the disc support rollers attached, and also (usually) have
some scroll work cut out to allow the sound to resonate louder.
This cabinet has a curved front and appears very similar to those used
for Stellas, although it may be slightly different. Ideally, a copy
from an "Empress" would be best.
Does anyone out there own this model and if so, would he or she be
willing to trace these two panels onto a sheet of poster paper for me
so that we can replicate the lost panels? This would involve only
removing four (4) wood screws for each panel, lifting the panels up and
out of your cabinet, laying them flat on the poster paper and tracing
the outline, plus the scrollwork sound hole cutouts.
We would be most grateful for any help with this. Thanks!
