Over the many pleasant years with my pianos and roll collection,
I would carefully check every new roll for a general idea of condition,
and then carefully play it to make sure it was good all the way through.
Many had a hole punched at the end of the roll which would reverse the
playing if one's instrument had such a designated hole on the tracker
bar. If they were word rolls, some would have the word "Reroll"
stenciled at the end.
My Steinway would do such, so when lacking I would punch the roll at
the appropriate position. In time I went out and purchased a little
rubber stamp that clearly says >Reroll< in about 18 or 20 point type,
as closely as possible to the original typeface on most rolls.
Having surrendered all my collection, I have the rubber stamp. I'll be
happy to send it to the first person who replies to me and is willing
to send me 2-ounce postage, to my address below. But reply by e-mail
first and I'll let the lucky winner know! All the best --
