Organ Pipes "Drawing" When Tuning
By John Smith

At a recent gathering of Amateur Organ Builders this subject arose and
one of the members seemed to have found a solution. The problem was in
tuning Celeste on the 26-note Universal organ where the pipes are indeed
close together. The man with the problem had turned the middle melody
pipe 180 degrees to effect a cure but another builder had discovered
that by fitting thicker caps on the pipes the problem would not have
occurred.

Amateur builders are able to divert from traditional organ building
methods and we love to experiment with things, often with failure but
occasionally coming up with really good ideas.
