Just a quick note to say that I've added a few more rolls to my
catalogue of recuts and new titles to be found at:
http://www.pianorolls.co.uk.
For the Duo-Art, this includes the Dohnanyi Rhapsody, Op. 11, no. 1,
played by Frank Lafitte, and Busoni's epic roll of Bach's Chaconne.
Also a couple of the rolls issued for the "Daily Express Piano Playing
Competition" that are consequently somewhat obscure but contain some
fine music.
AMICA convention attendees may like to know that the roll of "Moya
Maruschka," as heard at both this year's and last year's pumper
contest, has finally made it to the catalogue! This is a brand-new
arrangement for player piano by Adam Ramet, who has transcribed it from
a 78 rpm recording by Petr Leschenko, a Russian entertainer massively
popular in the 1930s. It's a wonderful piece, very lively and very
Russian! As fine as this is the pair of concert transcriptions by
Percy Grainger of Gershwin's "Love Walked In" and "The Man I Love," in
a new roll performance created by Sid O'Connell.
