Mechanical Music in the Middle East
By Vincent Morgan

Do any MMD readers know if there are any collections or individual
mechanical musical instruments or museums that would contain such in
the Middle East other than the collections of Eliyahu Shahar in Tel
Aviv and Nisan Cohen (Nisco Museum of Mechanical Music), Ein Hod,
Israel? If so, are the instruments maintained, viewable, etc.?

I know of a very nice cylinder box that used to belong to Shah Reza
Khan Pahlavi, father of Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, that is now in a private
collection in the US. But I don't know of extant instruments or
collections.
