Steering Wheel Cover for Tired Organ Cart Wheels
By Bob Conant

Dear MMDers, I have a Raffin organ and an original Raffin cart. The
wheels are wood spoke wheels with a steel tire. We recently put in a
new laminate floor through much of our home and I have been concerned
about rolling those steel wheels around and ruining the floor. So I
have been trying to devise some method of providing a soft tread for
the cart wheels.

What I came up with is the following. We were in Wal-Mart the other
day and as we were heading through the automotive section, my wife
said, "How about this?" It was a leather slip-on automobile steering
wheel cover. I whipped out my measuring tape and the size was perfect
(15 inches) for the Raffin wheels.

I bought one to try and it is a tight fit but works perfectly for my
application. I have attached a picture but it is easy to imagine how
it works. They weren't cheap, at about $15 each, but less than a lot
of other options I considered. For your consideration,

Cheers,
Bob Conant
