Hello, I had a beetle eating a trim board on my house and making a lot
of noise doing so. It was probably a power post beetle. Don't know if
this is the same as a wood worm but they are highly destructive. I did
not want to tent the house to kill what seemed to be just one beetle
and did not want to use highly toxic pesticides.
I found a product called Bora-Care. It is rather expensive but is
supposed to be a low toxicity insecticide for termites wood beetles and
other wood eating pests. The label gives the usual warnings about
toxicity but I believe it is much safer than other insecticides as it
is based on boron. Still don't know if you would want to regularly
handle items treated with it. It did kill the beetle with a single
application and I believe it is supposed to have a long lasting effect.
Also have no idea if it will interfere with hot glue adhesion.
I have 99% of a gallon left in case anyone wants to try a little.
Best regards,
Spencer Chase
